Indeed. And Semper Fidelis.

Most knew him as Johnny Carson's sidekick. But he was also a United States Marine. During World War II, he was a Marine aviator, flight instructor and test pilot. He was discharged in 1946, but returned to active duty during the Korean War in 1953. He remained in the Marine Corps Reserve, retiring with the rank of Colonel in 1966 and was then commissioned as a Brigadier General in the California Air National Guard.

WWII & returned to active duty during the Korean War...

Yep...quite the Patriot!!!!

RIP Ed...

Technically, Korea's not over yet, (just a cease fire) so we didn't actually lose. Who knows, if the Gargoyle keeps rattling his saber and fires a missile at HI like he's threatening to do, we could be right back in the thick of it. That's if we have a CinC with balls.

I did some research on what all he has done in the TV world.

He had his fingers in MANY MANY shows.

I would like to find DVD's of the Johnny Carson show, it was very enjoyable.

My wife mentioned it at dinner last night. My is 19 and asked "Who is Ed McMahon?"

I looked at her and said "Are we that old?"

But then you figure that Leno just left the Tonight Show after 16 years, so my son was 3 when Ed signed off.
