Ive been thinking about getting a Pioneer AVIC-N2 for the sport trac. Since its the only in dash navigatio system that will fit. But the only problem I can see is that when open it would block the front 2 ac vents. Being in florida. I need AC. Anyone have one and know if they block really bad?

Brandon

Brandon, I have that unit. It will block the vents, but you can use it with the screen down or back in. The nav system will still give you verbal commands. Or you could just close the vents, so the screen doesn't get moisture on it.

Can't you just flip the dash kit adapter upside down and mount the head unit BELOW the extra pocket? This would lower the unit by a few inches and not block the vents?

Mark

Not really, Mark. A smaller screen may block less of the vents, but you're still gonna block at least part of the vent.

John S., Cory,

No compalints, it can get washed out with direct sunlight but the interface is awesome and the design is such that you can add on several different devices, (cd changer, tv tuner, sirrius tuner, external displays and various control of certain Kenwood amps.) even future upgrades. I did not get the Navigation with this but I hope I have enough money saved up after I get through with my latest military deployment.

I think Pioneer makes an AVIC-N2 that is an in-dash now. If they had that when I got my Kenwood I may have went with the Pioneer.

I paid approx $700 on Ebay for the Kenwood, a good deal, cheaper than the Eclipse at the time.

I can get the Navigation for another $700+

Let me ask a question. Cause my main purpose for getting one is for the navigation. I drive for work and im using a PDA navigation now. The DVD player can be added later... but pioneer makes a model AVIC-D1. its a double din feature.. what size do we have? i thought it was a 1.5. But looking into the eclipse model thats show above it says its 2 din... any ideas if the AVIC-d1 will work before I got spend 1500 on one?

Mark you can't flip the dash kit with out modifying it somehow. I tried and it doesnt sit right the dash.

John...cut, hack, and glue....seriously. Which kit did you use? I don't really like my kit, it looks too cheap. I'll eventually mold it in when I get my control unit for my bags, so it's fine for now.
