My formula for figuring out what a car costs to drive is simple.
I really don't know what a car has cost to drive till the day I part with it.
I factor in the purchase price and the maintenance and then divide all that with the miles I got out of it. ( heavy maintenance, not oil changes or breaks, just things that break or force changing like the silly radiator issues , center console latch, bearings...) Things that I feel shouldn't break prematurely.
My last truck was about .17 per mile. 150k of the 180k miles were mine. Then I hit a deer and the clock stopped.
It's still early with the Track but right now I'm at aprox .23 cents per mile. 100k of the 135k are mine.
Try and explain all this to a guy who loves to lease....... They don't want to hear it at all...
