My Trac now has 186,000 miles on it. It has been a great and reliable vehicle! Nonetheless, it is time for a clutch replacement. I would rate my mechanical skills as 2 maybe 3 out of 5 and was wondering if you guys would recommend tackling this project myself in the driveway.... I have also read that I might be able to get away with just replacing the friction plate if everything else looks ok. I am assuming the flywheel will have to be re-surfaced and slave cylinder replaced since I would be in there already. I know this will be a time-consuming job for someone who hasn't changed a clutch before. Any thoughts?

Have you watched any Explorer vids on you tube yet. First time doing a project is always the worst but definitely a learning experience. I wouldnt think it would be overly expensive job at a shop since you dont have a transfer case. :driving:
