I have a 2003 2wd Sport Trac with 85,500 miles on it and while backing

up and turning the wheel sharply I continue to hear a clicking noise from

the front of the vehicle which stops when I straighten out the front wheels.

Any ideas on fixing this issue.... Thanks!

If it's a grinding metal to metal sound that only happens at full steering lock, check the steering stops.

It's not a grinding metal to metal sound but a sound of a ball bearing makes when

not in it's proper position and when the wheel straightens out things are fine. So a

thump when wheel turned all the way and a thump when straighten out. Thanks for

all the leads....

Have you checked the upper control arm bolts? I had a clunk when turning sharp into driveways. The passenger side rear nut was 1/8" loose and also popped traveling straight over small bumps. Found by luck, the front suspension was unloaded and off the ground rotating tires. The amateurs that did my alignment didn't tighten them to spec. Torque @ 83 ft/lbs.

Have you checked the ball joints? if you are still using originals at 85K, they are very suspect, especially the load bearing lowers.
