2005 XLT. I just started getting a "CHECK FUELCAP" warning where the mieage information usually appears (same place as where "low Fuel" appears). I bought a new fuel cap and no change to the warning light. As a sidenote, about two weeks ago I replaced the shocks; at the rear I had to remove some sort of plastic system with vacuum hoses that sat above the spare tire. I replaced it and it's hoses, and all was fine. I don't think that is involved, but any suggestions from anyone?

I had the same problem on mine the crossover hose from the charcoal canisters above the spare came loose and set the cel. Lower the spare and have a look. If it is off reconnect and disconnect the battery for 20 min. and that should clear the codes.

Thanks MDTRAC, you were absolutely right. One hose was disconnected; put that back where it belonged and the warning light is gone.

Bob, no problem glad it was that simple I bought a gas cap I did not need but now have a spare before I realized what the true problem was. Have a Great Day.
