Check Engine Light code

Few months back got the "check fuel cap" light-changed the original cap at 63,000 miles. Put on a new locking Gates cap....cleared code, light came back, then few hundred miles later the check engine light.

So bought another cap, cleared code, put back on, now NO "check fuel cap" message, but check engine light came on. Went to Advanced auto and retrieved a "PO4055" code-major evap leak.

All hoses, fittings appear to be solid and attached. Anybody have similar issues/suggestions. And of course my ST is due for inspection and I can't go through with the check engine light on/active code triggered.

Have you checked all the hoses on the evap canistor for tightness. Some are sliped on without clamps.

It is above the spare driver side.

+1 on what Eddie stated, also there is also a vent tube beside the filler neck.





I had both the CEL and gas cap light. It was a hose under the spare tire.

thanks, going to pull down the spare and check it out. I just replaced that gas tank regulator thing behind the spare a few months ago, a hose might have slipped off.
