Check Engine code P0171

My scan gauge says I have P0171 code. Is that an emission code?



I forgot where the codes are listed on the website. Supposed to drive to Moab in a week and I need to fix ASAP.

That said, that code is the dreaded cracked elbow...

The crack is normally on the under-side of the elbow...

A P0171 is a bank 1 lean code. If it really is only bank 1 that is lean then the cracked elbow does not apply here,on the other hand there is a very good chance that P0174 (bank 2 lean) has not set yet and that would mean that both banks are running lean, in that case the cracked elbow "MAY" be the cause but there are numerous other things that can casue the engine to run lean.

I recall seeing the SD coil throwing this code, your profile shows that you have one.

Using the Scanguage I cleared the code and it has not come back... So who knows what it was...

swshawaii is correct. The SD coil did cause this code for some reason.



I recal a fair amount of people having this issue and going back to the OEM coil. The code was solved and then they got a replacement SD Coil...
