do kits for an 07 or even for a regular explorer work ?

You can't use one for the Explorer, as the Sport Trac has a longer frame so its a different setup. I did check the Magnaflow website and there isn't any listing for a V-6 model. Sorry. Some of the other members have used Flowmaster mufflers with great success. Keep looking, Bob

IMO a V6 just doesn't sound right with an aftermarket exhaust on it

Pick the wrong cat-back or muffler, your right. Nothing sounds as good as a V8 though.
