I have a 2003 sport trac that my #1 son broke the bolt off that holds the glove box lid closed. Your guess is as good as mine why he wanted to take the nut off of this bolt. Can this bracket be changed with a junkyard part without taking the whole dash apart?.

I looked at my '01. It has and striker and bulb holder in one assembly, held by one bolt and nut. Seems easy to replace that bolt with the glove box door open.

Ditto, The glove box striker appears to be fastened by a welded stud. See no reason why it can't be drilled out and replaced with a short bolt, nut, and washer.

I didn't notice the bolt being welded. Seems odd, but if so, drill and replace with a bolt. If you want that "factory factor", toss on some JB Weld under the bolt head (highly unnecessary).
