Brakes..I think?

I was just driving on the highway getting off at my exit and I hear a thump and when I hit the brakes, all I heard was thump thump thump and metal grinding. I replaced the front pads and rotors at 80K, and have never replaced the rear drums, I have 118K on my ST now. Could it be the brakes I heard? and if so could it be both front and rears?

Maybe a rock got lodged somewhere. I've had that happen several times.

Visual inspection on the fronts are..the rotors are beat up..The ST is in the shop today..
