Brakes & Brake Light Coming on

Hi all.



I have a 2001 ST with 99,600 miles. She's been a great truck w/no problems (knock knock) - Just over the last few days when I go to stop, my brakes brake strong, then right at the point I stop, they get spongy, then catch back to strong again.



Yesterday, the Brake light came on. It doesn't stay on all the time, sometimes it on....sometimes it's not.



So....be gentle....I am scared of what the problem is and how much it's gonna cost.



Any idea's what it may be?

Air in the lines. When was the last time you had the pads changed?

I changed the pads in April 2007. This problem just started Monday of this week. If it was air in the lines, wouldn't this had showed up a lot sooner?



Trust me, I am HOPING that's all it is.

Check the fluid level in the resevoir. During a stop, the level can go down (after the pads get worn enough) to let air get sucked into the lines.

Fluid level is low and the sensor is moving up and down with the stops and starts of the vehicle.



It is an indication that the front pads are worn, thus, the fluid has filled the pistons of the front calipers.
