Brake Pedal Noise, Please Help!

Every once in awhile when I apply the brakes, generally at lower speeds, I get what I call a "creaking noise" almost like a bushing is getting compressed, coming from my brake pedal. Or at least I think the brake pedal. I had the front brakes replaced once around 30k ago. My 01 only has 78k on it. Any clues as to what it may be? Im not happy about the brakes only lasting 30 to 40k. Ive read posts about my years brake issues. Is it a big deal to change out the rotors, etc. to the larger ones on newer models of the Trac? Had the same thing and it warranted replacement of the master cylinder and boot (?) as I recall. It was done under warranty several years ago so I can't tell you the cost.
