I've been having some problems with the alarm that was installed at the dealership back when I bought by truck and I'm hoping that you all can be of more help than the guys at the dealership. Over the last couple of weeks, when I would start up my truck, the alarm would go off. I would then have to shut off the truck, turn off the alarm, and try again. It may do this once or twice, but I would eventually get it started. I've been wanting to take it into the dealership to get it looked at, but with it being the holiday season, my only days off from work are the days that the dealership have been closed.

Today I tried starting up the truck and the alarm again went off. This time I can't get it started without the alarm going off. I tried seven times and all seven times, the alarm went off. I called the service department at my dealership and asked if there's a way to disable the alarm. Her mentioned putting it in valet mode (which I tried earlier without any luck). After I told him that I tried that, he said that he doesn't know what to do. He said I can just drive it to the dealership with the alarm going off and they'll take a look at it, but I don't plan on driving all the way to the dealership with my horn honking.

Anybody know of a way that I can disable the alarm so that it doesn't go off? I noticed that my battery may need to be replaced - would that be causing the problem? I can't leave work until I get this thing started without the horn going off, so any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Pull the fuse for the horn, at least that way you can get to the dealer without aggravating a bunch of people...

Do you happen to know what fuse it is? I looked and I didn't have a fuse listed for the alarm.

Never mind...I just saw that you said to pull the fuse for the horn. Sorry about that.

A few months ago, I had a prob with my 97 Escort......the friggin horn was blasting and it turned out to be a weak battery that was causing it. Had the battery recharged by Autozone and no more issues.
