If you have been driving in any winter mud and slush. Check the tone rings and sensors for crud stuck to them,
 
You also may have a bad ABS sensor, which has happened to me. The best way to check this is to use a scanner.

You cant do it with a cheap scanner, it has to be one of the high end ones.
 
You can also check the sensor with a VOM.

IIRC, the ohms should be from 17 to 26 ohms.

Check it disconnected.
 
change the brake /tail ights

and see if it changes any thing i spent two days at ford while tech after tech contemplated what it was they would test and take things apart and put em back they read no codes and test drive it



abs light would come on about 40 mph:angry:> back to the shop and re test >>:angry:





in the end to find out the thye computer was reading a resistance from the the light bulbs which would turn the abs light on
