A/C Click

Whenever I turn on the HVAC to AC, there is a single, somewhat loud click from (I believe) the left side of the engine bay, near the firewall. I am not positive on the location, though. It is repeatable.



Any ideas?

it is the compressor kicking on and off, it is normal with all Fords.

Wow - I never realized it was that loud. You think they could go the way of, oh, anyone else and make it quieter.

Yeah, if it seems to be clicking on and off on and off on and off, then maybe get it checked out, but if it just seems like every few minutes or so, its fine.

You can make it more quiet... by turning up the stereo!

They can get loud. I have a friend that jumped and said "what was that!" when my AC compressor kicked on in my GMC years ago (more of a "chirp" with the GMC). It took me a minute to figure out what he was talking about, but I told him it has always sounded like that since new. He thought it would probably go out soon, but that was close to 100,000 miles ago.
