I just completed the 3" PA lift and wanted 33 x 12.5 on some new 16 x 8 wheels. The tire place is pushing more for the 285/75/16's. Will the 33's fit and how much rubbing? Those with the same setup, are you happy with the 285's?

just got your email. very very minor rubbing, what type of tires are you getting? I went with BFG all terrains (highly recommend them).

If I was to do it again I would probably go with the same size, I would consider a 305/70/16 (same height just wider). I am very happy with my choice, but after putting 80,000 k on my tires i think its time to replace them anyways this fall.

No matter what Im sticking with my BFG's

285 and 33" are just about the same height size. Probably not even a 1/4" difference. I think if you go with 33x12.5 they may be a little bit wider.

They suggested the pro comp all terrains. We looked at the 305's and his "guy" who he calls is telling him they will rub too much. If you would do them again then I think I'm OK with the 285's. Just a lot of money to make the wrong choice . . .

Thanks guys

A 33x12.50, 285/75, and 305/70 are all about the same height. The 12.50 and 305 will be wider.

Problem is the backspacing. Since you're looking at getting 16x8 rims, the ones with the least backspacing I've found are Pro Comp 1069's, at 4" b/s. A lot of 16x8's have 4.5" or more b/s, and a wide tire will rub on the inside.

wheel diameters:

285/75/16 = 32.83" (the rubbing is on the inside of the passenger side front tire only, and its only when you crank the wheel all the way to the right)

305/70/16 = 32.81"

33x12.5 = 32.6"
