does anyone know why a 2001 sport trac tonneau cover will not fit the 2008 also the bed extender? please help

A Gen 1 bed extender will fit a Gen 2, but you can't flip it into the bed because it hits the tonneau cover brackets.



I used a Gen 1 extender in my 07. I just removed it when I didn't need it.



BTW, it's for sale. $60 plus shipping.

The difference between the 2 generations of tonneau covers is the GenII is slightly larger and utilizes different mounting locations. As described above the extender is almost interchangable. Keep shopping until you can find the right cover and extender to fit your vehicle. Bob
