ok well i was going to look at some different trucks thursday but if i don't find anything i sure will give that a shot and see how it goes and i do understand that this may not fix it but sure will help if anything.

so if i was to replace the rear tensioner like ToddZ just did and put a new oil sending unit in and flush the engine it should clear atleast some of the noise up. i just changed the oil in it today castrol high mileage and a fram ph2 filter

yes mine has the small square cover with 4.0 stamped in it

another dumb question. how do i tell what job it is. since its a 2001 would it be a job 1. is this the same as they label the old fire birds by generations

also my oil preasure guage is slow to jump to the normal position when i first crank it, is this related to my rattle problem or maybe a bad oil filter

so is the tensioner whats causing my rattle of is it the whole timin chain assembly? does the motor have to come out to change tensioner?

guy at shop says it the rear timing chain or tensioners making the noise. i cant stand the noise when cranking it when its cold. sounds as if its fallin apart. i planned on takin it to texas pullin a 16 ft trailer and two atvs but since this has gotten bad i think im gonna leave it home.

ok i have a 2001 4x4 trac with 98555 miles on it i have replaced pretty much everything under the front end and now my timing chain is rattlin like crazy and shop says motor got to come out for this fix now i'm pretty inclined when it comes to workin on my truck but i know nothin of fixin this...

well i took my 01 to the shop for the loud rattling noise that accurs while cranking and he said it was the timing chain as i guessed it would be so he says the motor has to come out and lookin at $1000 at the least for the job.

i had a similar problem with my 01 all i had was just runnin lights i traced wires as far as i could with no fire to them then checked fuses they were all good so i just ran new wires and havent had a problem since. good luck

i had the same prob with my 01 come to find out the back bolt on the caliper came out lettin it ride on the rotor. there was no noise until you hit the brakes or backed up. new bolt from part store and lock tight and i was good to go.

i went from stock to 265's and my truck performs fine i do alot of junk car haulin my last load that i can remember rig and all was 10,020lbs and it pulled it fine even would spin the tires if you got on it hard from a dead stop, stoppin was a diff story but i love my 265's i would'nt go back to...

if i put the 3 inch body lift on my trac will the brush guard or bull bar be able to be mounted so that its fits the truck or will it sit three inches lower due to it being a body lift? note i do not have either guards or lift yet. thanks

i think i'm gonna give this a shot myself first i just had it aligned when i put new upper and lower ball joints in. i know it will most likely need to be re aligned.
