Dingo, I've seen you mention flipping a switch and changing your exhaust note a few times now, but you've never elaborated. I saw in the other post about exhausts today that Les asked about it also, but maybe you didn't see it? What have you done with it? The only 2 products I've seen are the electric cutouts where you can go from an open exhaust to a muffled exhaust (maybe you could run 2 separate muffled exhausts?) and the Powertone (I think this was the name) mufflers that they used to sell for Corvettes a few years back that have a tune-on-the-fly switch built into the muffler, but you list a Magnaflow in your mods so I don't think that's it.... Come on, out with it, play nice and share!:p

Electric cut out..

Something like this?

Man....if I'd have known that this existed I wouldn't have bought an aftermarket exhaust system at all!

Can I put this on my Magnaflow and make it sound more like stock? Will it hurt my truck?

Now that I think about it...it can't be quieter than the muffler that's on it can it? So I'd have to buy this and a much quieter muffer or put the crappy stock stuff back on. To bad I sold all the stock stuff!

Bleh! I wish I knew about this stuff before. This is pretty cool.

why would you muffle it psycareyo? you could install it so it blows out before the cat.... It'll be loud as hell of course.... but you'd most likely only use it when going WOT from a stand still...

There is a muffler out there that has a built in cut out. You remove it manualy though. I think it is called the warlok. Cant remember who makes it.

Mine is an electric cutout, but it's not the poorly made QTP one. Mine has a 4 year warranty.

Woppy,

I don't understand your comment. I'm trying to retain the performance I want but eliminate the noise when I don't want it or need it. Like when I drive 500 miles at 2k rpm for hours at a time. The exhaust isn't fun to listen to that long. The Magnaflow has the perfect tone and loudness driving in the city and when it's wide open but it grates on me over a long ride.

FastEddie,

I remember the Warlock Mufflers. You have that dead on! I always thought they were cool as hell except for crawling on the ground to remove them.

Dingo,

Well...who makes yours then?

Is your price better than what is listed on their website?? By the way Dingo you never answered my question about what fluid your running in your transmission?? Sorry to hijack the thread, I'm just trying to figure out what I need before I take it in for its service on Friday!

I'll see what I can do on the price tomorrow. Ordinarily, I charge the same amount he does.

My tranny still has it's normal Ford-issued Mercon-V.

Thanks for the follow-up. I thought that I had seen a previous post where you had said you used RP in your trans but then in my more recent post you said RP would void the warranty but you never specified what you used so I wasn't sure if you just said to heck with the warranty.

Cool! Thanks again for all the help. I'm sure that you can tell I'm new at this. This is the first vehicle I have owned that I have done any mods to so I'm still learning. You and the rest of the experts here on the forum have become a priceless resource for me.
