Its only going to fail, I've had no luck with additives for this. the ethanol in the gas kills the sending unit.

Once you remove the screws and i think a few plastic fasteners, just slide it a little, you will figure it out, once the big cover is off, remove the plastic pins fot eh top cover and then pull the sucker off. I just took mine off 5 years ago, drilled holes for Christmas tree fasteners, pushed...

You know though a bigger motor doesn't change brakes, trans, gearing, suspension and all the other factors that go into a vehicles towing capacity and safety while towing....

Oval auto sells a bracket that you can modify a mustang wilwood kit with larger rotors and calipers. its not cheap but is doable and has been done. maybe 4 grand when all is said and done.

Ive seen photos before, Big issue is the tailgate weight. Its not designed to hold more then 1-200 lbs. Maybe a piece of plywood down, or a 2x6 under the wheels would be safer.
