I took my 04 Sport Trac Adrenaline to a mechanic to have them change the filter and fluid in my automatic transmission. When I picked it up the shifting was way off. It would actually kind of slam from one gear to the next. I took it back and the mechanic can't figure it out.

Any suggestions?

Possible a fluid level issue? Although would think that would be a no brainer for your mechanic. GL

He might have used a multi-generic trans fluid. I have been seeing it on the shelves lately.

I only use the motorcraft mercon5.

One other thought is. if you are 4x4 and he used the 4x2 filter. Could be starvation for fluid. Also if he forgot the 2 o-rings an the filter. Could be a suction issue. There are 3 points of suction from to the valve body from the filter.

Im just playing a guessing game. Not accussing anyone or thing.

My mind tends to get anylytical being an instrument tech by trade. When something is ok before service, and not after. take it back apart and inspect what you did...LOL
