Good afternoon, is it possible to repair a seat belt retractor?

Mine has lost its gumption and I continuously slam the clip in the door :banghead::smack:

Looks like you can get replacements for under $200 but if theres a fix Id rather save the cash!

Thanks,

Jeremy

If I remember to feed it up over my shoulder. I forget 2 or 3 times a month. It feeds back in. Mine has been bad for 5years.

Eddie, hope you're OK. Hurricane Harvey looks like another monster.

Oops! Just saw your Harvey post on the OT board. Please stay safe bro.

FIXED!!! So I pulled off the side panel and cleaned all the dust out, wiped of the black spring bar that gives the seat belt tension and bent it out about 1/8th inch so the belt moves without resistance.

I also applied the Mc Lube mentioned above on both sides of the belt that enters the retractor.

I also put a little Mc Lube on the upper belt swivel guide to reduce resistance there.

Put the panel back on pulled the belt all the way out 5 or 6 times until it retracted quickly all of the way.
