I have a 2001 XLS model. Brother bought it in 2003. I bought it from him for my sons first vehicle Pretty nice condition but when it rains the headliner above DS A pillar gets week. Depending upon rainfall sometimes it drips onto back seat. It has a moon/sun roof and roof racks. Where would it be leaking from?

    thanks

Check the drains where the hoses connect behind the headliner. Mine the hoses shrunk overtime and pulled away. I went to Home Depot and got 5/8s??? Hose and hose barb connector and made my own extension. If you pull it to much it will fall out of a rubber grommet that is at the other end where it drains from located halfway down the door jam.

fixing this is a pain but cheaply done.

mine still leaks all around the edges of headliner/moon roof but it drains outside instead of the floor.

Drains appear unclogged as I poured a glass of water in each side last night while it was in the garage and water came out on floor behind front tires. There is a rain channel in the metal roof and it runs into the windshield rubber. Could this be the problem? Also tightened the screws a bit on the roof rack

    thanks for all assistance

If it is not the sunroof, (there should be 4 drains), My next check would be the rack screws. Tightening may not stop a leak you may need to add some seal on them! Maybe someone else knows the system better.

Left and Right A-pillars, and Left and Right B-pillars.
If it is the rack screws. The threads need to be coated with Black RTV silicone.

My 2004 does not leak, but the headliner does show sign of water damage. I would like to inspect the hoses, but have no idea where to start. I did pour a cup of water in the channel and passenger side drains ok, but the drivers side is stopped. Do I need to remove the headliner? or is there an easier way. I can only see 2 holes. They are both up front and about 1/3 in square. Is that the correct drain holes?

Does the water pool on the drivers side or does it drain and you just don’t see where it drains too? If it’s stopped up I’ve heard of people using compress air and a length of pipe to blow out the drain

there are drain holes at all four corners. The rear holes I don’t know much about to access them you need to pull down the headliner completely.

Water does pool on the drivers side. I probably will wait until spring and work outside to find the 4 drain holes. It appears that a previous owner may have slathered grease of some kind in the slots and some of it may be plugging the holes. Like I say, I don't think I have a leak inside, but there is discoloration all around the moon roof that may be residue from too much grease used and during hot weather, it might be seeping into the headliner. Thanks for any info.

I think there are drains at the rear off the sunroof. They go down the B-pillar. One member had to pull the Interior caps off. his hoses had fell off.
