Painting Base Trim

I just bought an '01 Sport Trac and stumbled upon this forum. It is navy blue and I am looking to paint the plastic molding on the base of the vehicle. For anyone that has painted, have you done a color other than black? I was thinking that white would be sharp, but worried about durability and look long term. Any thoughts?
