Anyone know of a 'safe' program for over / underclocking an iPaq hx2400 series ppc? By safe, I mean it has been tested and shown to work with this specific iPaq series.

I looked at HackMaster, but too many people reported having to hard reset after attemtping to use, so wonder if there is any freeware that would work as well?

JerryA,

What you describe is the general nature of overclocking. Your results will vary. An overclocked speed and set of settings that works for one person on their device might cause another person having the same model device to hang. So, if you are seeing reports that some or even many are overclocking their iPaqs and having to hard reset, either they are pushing them way past their limits, and/or the iPaq simply isn't that tolerant of any overclocking.

Either way, be careful. There's always the chance of "bricking" a handheld when doing stuff like that...which is probably why you are asking about safe utilities for overclocking. Put simply, there are no such truly safe utilities as they are by design built to push the device past its tolerance limits.
