I got a new third brakelight. I like it much better. The brake section is still LED, but the cargo lights are regular bulbs. I prefer that 'cause the LED cargo lights only blind people behind you instead of lighting up the bed. It's made by Hella (like the original Ford one.)

It's way brighter in person, but the camera dims it.

And of course, the cargo bulbs are blue.

Looks good, Andy. Do they make one for a Gen 1 ST? If so, where can we get one?

Dingo, that looks great!

Makes me wish I could afford spending that $$ on the Recon light in swap & sell that much more

Uh....I have one. Maybe NOT the smae brand but I have a SMOKED 3rd light with LED's in the center section and standard bulbs on the sides.

Yep. Similar ones are available on eBay. The quality and brightness are lacking in my opinion, though.

Andy, you know I would hate to do this to you, hahahaha, but if you took the blue film and went over the outside edge and top of the light it would look great._Ron :D

Naa, just leave the center out. I am sure that you have enough around to play with, hahahaha._Ron

The lens for the LED's in the cargo light points more horizontally to back, rather than down into the bed. The bulb type has more "spread" and will put more light into the bed.

Hmmm. OK. My Recon light points down into the bed, albeit at the rear. The majority of the light hits the rear of the tonneau cover.

Mine pointed straight back. Look at the LED board.

The new one angles the bulbs downward like the stock one. Here's a pic from the back at eye level. The camera compensates for the brightness by darkening everything (every pic in this thread was taken during the day,) but look how much brighter the LEDs are than the bulbs. The angle is why.
