I'm just not sure what this particular line is called and what it is hooking into. I should start with the engine - 2007 ST 4.0L 4WD. There is a line( I assume some sort of vacuum line) that comes off the top of intake plenum right near the throttle body, runs behind the drives side head, as best I can tell, and then connects up to what appears to be some valve mounted on driver's side fender well.

I forgot to mention why I'm looking at this line - I was moving it around last night for no reason other than I was looking at something else and I notices my hands were all black like I had been playing in charcoal dust so my guess is it probably needs to be replaced.

That's the Vapor vent valve for the gas tank...... If you don't have a CEL on its fine..... As Sws said it that old failing hose crumbling.... Id go to a Junk yard, ANY 05-10 Explorer or 0710 Sport trac with he same motor has that hose....

Thanks - no CEL but since it's rotting to a degree anyhow might just replace it - like 1.5 foot or so of hose is all. Seems like an easy thing to do
