Hello -- 2010 STA without roof rails -- been crawling the forum history for ladder rack ideas; also been looking at 'universal/adjustable' for something that might work and nothing seems quite right... even the receiver hitch bed extender comes up short, and sticks way out the back -- thus starting to design up a custom rack and wanted to ask if anyone else has gone down this path.

Mostly want to keep our paddle boards (10' and 13') on the truck during the season, but don't want to hack up the bed shell. Not a lot of weights and we are close / back roads to the lake.

Current idea is just doing a basic frame out of pressure treated wood frame that sits in the bed and use ratchet straps to the side hooks or bed hooks to hold in place; if i use through bolts and some deck brackets, then it should dis-assembly and store easily in the off season

i tend to overthink and over-design things, so hoping i am missing an easy solution. None of the clamps look like they will work as the bed liner is that plastic shell and think it will crack easily.

Have considered, would still need a rear support --- after the leaky antenna / 3rd light fix i am a little shy about poking holes in the roof.

Thanks for the zabteck write write-ups; ready to order a throttle body, but i'm fixated on a 55-70 mph shake i can't get rid of = think my rims are tweaked as i've had them balanced a few times and the shop always says 'wow, those were off' but it never lasts.
