How would you rate Barack Obama's speech? (from Yahoo News)

Q. The nation is "ready to lead once more," the president said in his history-making inauguration address. How impressed were you?

*I thought his speech was excellent and inspirational. (my vote)

*I thought his speech was good, not great.

*I thought his speech was just so-so.

*I was not at all impressed with his speech.

*I didn't watch / No opinion

Hope the link works:

No, but I'm tired of speeches and words. WE NEED RESULTS. But I have this really bad feeling, the next for years is going to be a campaign for his last 8 years.

During his speech, we had a budget meeting on the next round of layoffs. Go figure!

The link doesn't work.

I'm with Al. Actions speak louder than words...

So don't tell me how rough the seas are... Just bring me the ship!

gotta love Vince Lombardi.. u can quote him for anything.

I vote inspirational is also my choice,O is a great orator for sure.

Americans are scared, Sad, fearfull of the future.

Is it false hope? we shall see.

I liked his speech. Not to ruffle feathers but while it is true that "action s speak louder than words". Alot of americans live outside thier means, and that is why the country is so bad off, too many people just sit back and want the gov't to support them and fix things. Sorry , I may only be 30 years old but I was raised that the world doesn't meet anyone halfway. If you want something you work for it. Outside of my truck and my wifes truck payments if we don't have the money than we don't need it that bad that we can't just wait and try and save for it. Sorry if I offend anybody but the truth hurts. Jerry Gerner

I didn't see it being that I have to work. But a few people were gathered around a computer watching the speech. I walked in just as he was finishing up and saw him say "God bless America."

I will watch it tonight because I Tivo'd it.

Didn't watch it or hear it since I'm at work.

I'm sure it will be on the news for quite some time.

Maybe I'll try to catch it then.

But if not, my life will still go on. ;)

I would rate it so-so for a simple reason. Ever since the election, all of his speeches have been about how bad things are, how tough things are gonna be, how long its gonna take -- much doom and gloom. I don't know if he is trying to lower expectations or just being realistic, but for someone who is supposedly so inspirational he has been a downer of late.

Rocks

Nope.

Why didn't I ?

Well, I was working, but even if not working, I would not have watched it.

There is nothing in his speech that will change our future. I am not suggesting Obama will not change our future, just that the words within his speech have zero effect on what it in front of us.

I sincerely hope he does a great job and we are all happy in a few years from now...

I am sure those folks in Detroit are happy today. He promised that the automakers' jobs will return. McCain said they will never come back. Can anyone in Detroit confirm the assembly lines restarted today?

Im with you there. Im tired of words from all of them. I want to see successful action. The one thing I will always believe. It doesnt matter what side of the isle your from. There are hidden and everchanging agendas from corporate America and outside influence. That can make or break any politicians policies or actions. I dont place alot of faith in any party. I dont think the president has had much control over the executive branch, for over 50yrs.

With congress always overriding what most presidents want. Also with the courts over steping interpretation and making law. I see the president more of a figure head.

To even sound more pesimistic. I think despite we vote. All the parties do is put nominees up, that they know will win or lose. Wouldnt suprise me if secret societies are in control and they take turns on the whole thing. We need more than a 2 strong party system.

I truly believe what our founders intended fell apart long ago. We as Americans fight and fuss with each other as if we are in control. If I hear this African American thing one more time, Im gonna puk. He is a man an American man, same as all of us. Will the race card ever be droped? I dont call myself a European American.

You have to be 1/2 dead not to be moved by today's events in total. The speech did not move me one way or the other, but if he keeps his word and begins to make cuts to programs that the tax payers should not be paying for then he gets a  from me. Nobody has done it yet! There will be no "moments" taken from this speech, but I don't think it was written to be an oratorical masterpiece.

First and foremost ---- I am an American and I wish him the best !

P.S. Did Chris Matthews on MSNBC finally have his Viagra moment ?;)

DanC

O cannot make change by himself, he is only one cog in a complicated wheel.

Some of his grand dream may happen, alot will not.

Wish him luck tho.

I agree Bill.

The comments of Sen. L. Graham hit it right on the head today. He said (paraphrasing) that it will almost be "sexy" to work and go along with O. Should be interesting to see of the Republicans will be total lemmings.

A good speech, but it is ONLY a speech.

My question is when President Obama opens the factory that is going to create 4.1 million jobs for people, how big will the parking lot have to be?

I agree w/ the speech being only a speech.

He just like anyone else that speaks had time to prepare the speech if he himself even prepared it.

The thing that annoys me so much about this is as I'm watching the post inauguration news all they can talk about is how we've come such a long way for african americans. This annoys me so much cuz no matter how much of the gap we fill we always maintain the name. Black people are always african american and white people are always white. I have never heard someone say well black people have come such a long way. Why is this? Why is black a bad term to use? I dont understand!

I honestly wish we could all just be the same. Even when we try to say we have become less racist we still cannot stop ourselves from classifying each other by race. I fear though that we will never go away from this. I dont mind being called white but honestly I do not feel equal to an african american, in fact i feel put down. How come my heritage is not mentioned before my classification as American, am I not good enough? If we must seperate ourselves from the classification of American then why not do it correctly because the fact is how many people of any other denomination in America today are themselves or their maternal parents actually from the country they claim in front of American. Yes Obamas father is from another country so that might qualify but how many others are.

Honestly I dont know where I am goin with this other than just rambling.

I just pray that one day race wont even be used in our vocabulary because we are all human beings. Yes some come from different coutries and in that regard in order to better understand their back ground they can be called canadian or indian or portugese or austrailian or whatever but we should not continue to dwell on classifying ourselves differently if we TRULY want to be equal.

Sorry if I offended anyone I was just not being PC for a moment and speakin from the heart

If youd like me to explain any of my reasoning ill do my best = )

We all came from one mother and one father.

we are all related to one and other, and thats a scientific fact.
