Help with a Jeep Liberty

My brother has an '08 jeep liberty 3.5L. In the section where the odometer is. Is says ERROR.

The CEL is not on and runs fine. We cant find in the manual or anywhere what the ERROR means.

Without the CEL on. Will it tell me anything, with my OBD2 reader?

Try disconnecting battery cables and reconnect 'em. Electron fart maybe? If that don't help I'd look at connections from speed sensor to the instrument cluster.
