headlamp Replacement?

I have a 2001 ST and was wondering if when you change the bulbs to aftermarket,do you re-install the silver caps over the tips?????? thanks

You don't have to touch them at all. Remove headlight by pulling up on the two tabs holding each assembly. Remove bulb connector and twist and remove bulb. Replace in the opposite order. Bottom line do not remove the silver covers. They stay in the assembly.



That's how it is on a generation 1. If I'm wrong please chime in.

I may have not been clear. I am only changing tthe bulbs to Silverstars.

You just take out the old bulb and put in the new. Don't have to mess with any tips....just remember not to touch the glass of the bulb when you put in the Silverstars.



That's what I put in mine.......big difference from the stock bulbs.



I also replaced my fogs with the Silverstars as well.

That's a glare shield, and it stays in place throughout the replacement procedure. It is "unremoveable".

I didn't know the older models had those tabs you have to pull up. I had those on my Ranger and one got bent wrong and was a pita to reinstall.



I'm glad the new ones have the screws instead of the tabs.
