Gray plug wire

Just bought a set of Motorcraft WR6210 plug wires and it has one gray plug end and the other 5 are black. Any idea which plug gets the oddball? Replacing a POS aftermarket set so I have nothing to go off of.

Are the wires numbered? I wouldnt like the oddball either. If it is the same material and boot type, it shoudnt matter.

I would probably exchange them though. Someone might have pilfered the one they wanted and took the set back....

Good question. Posted this on several Ford forums years ago when replacing my OE wires, and again using a new WR6120 set on a friends Ranger.



Most answers led to the common "It's a Ford thing" without explanation. One reply said the boots are at different angles, but comparing appear the same.
