In light of the Airline debacle Xmas day, Anyone feel racial profiling should be used at airports? Full strip searches? including xrays.

this Nigerian jerk is now demanding full rights as to prosecution under the American legal system, and he will most likly get it:( our system is tottaly FUBARRED.

Agree the system is fubar, agree the guy is an idiot.....

As for profiling, i would not want it done to every Italian because they are know for being "wise-guys"

That may not be a good example, But profiling is wrong, i would not want it done to me...

i feel the system needs to be fixed...

Only way to have "good" security at airports is replace the halfbum rental rent-a-cops with the military. Yes I know I said halfbum but they don't even deserve the term"

"halfa$$". I know military sounds too harsh but these aren't the old days.

How long has the German military run their airports? When was their last incident?

As long as everybody was searched the same way, I don't see a problem. JMO. BC

honest opinion to a legit question- profile the shit out of 'em. Include full body scans, scans for metal, scans for PETN explosives (thought this went without saying but I guess not), scan for every damn thing that can be made into a lap bomb (again, thought this went without saying), air marshals on every flight especially those coming from third world countries. OK, i am done:smile0003::smile0003:

Terrorists come in all colors, some are even American citizens (see link).

As Bob C stated, everyone should be searched the same.

Here is the issue with profiling.

Not EVERY Muslim is a terriorist. Not every Arab person is Muslim. A white person could be a terriorist. If we profile a male Arab as a possible terriorist and low and behold some well dressed white guy is bringing a bomb onto an airplane, what do we do then?

If we target one race, type of person, gender, religon, etc. we will only make the bad guys change their plan of attack. We are not solving anything.

How far is to far? How far are you willing to go? Would you want your wife or young daughter strip searched before boarding a plane? Would that make you feel safe? Would you want your mother or grandmother being strip searched? How about an infant child getting strip searched?

I think all of these lame butt rent-a-cop security personnel should be fired. They are a joke. Get REAL military personnel into the airports. Issue each one an M-16. That one is enough to freak out the majority of the bad guys. Military personnal have the advance training that some schmuck being paid $12.00/hr to sit there with a bad attitude while performing a mediocre job of protecting my safety.

The US Military is not a police force, and I hope it never will never be used to police it's citizens.

Yes but there is a probability that a certain type of person, doing certain things is more likely to be commiting a particular type of crime. If you were targeting the KKK, you wouldn't get great results if you targeted African Americans. Possible but not very likely.

A young guy who paid $3000 cash for a one way ticket, with no luggage and who left no contact info should have raised some concern especially since his dear old Dad alerted the U.S. Embassy that he was a threat to the U.S. And Napolitano said the system worked. If his detonation devise would have worked, we'd be watching a different newscast the past few days. The system didn't work ....luck just happened to be on those passengers side this time...IMO!

If someone had been profiling prior to 9/11, maybe a lot of folks would still be alive and would have just enjoyed another Christmas with their families.

Isn't the Homeland Security kind of profiling when they say that religious, flag waving(esp Gadsden flag), conservative, tea-partying folks, who are just excercising their 1st Ammendment rights, are more of a threat than other "extremists?

I like how Janet Napolitano, our brilliant head of hs, said earlier today that "The System worked Perfectly"...and later recanted and changed her tune to "the system has failed". Reneger :(

Especially not if BO follows through with his intent to stupidly make soldiers pay for their own health care, because that will adversely affect their willingness to duty and morale :(

When homeland security said that the idiot's name couldn't be instantly found in a list of 500,000 , the BS alert went off. I can search billions of sites on google in mere seconds.

    coupled with this

makes the whole situation ludicrous. You don't need to be a genius to throw down the red flag on this one. I wouldn't even call that profiling, it's blatant.

Though this reactive system of security will never work, especially since we're (obviously) only putting reactive measures in to stop bombers who failed. By the time we think that we've prevented terrorists from using bombs strapped to their junk to blow up planes, they'll have found a even more disturbing way to get it in. Those ridiculous nude-image generating body scanners won't stop something inside the body.

And anyone who thinks it is a good idea to put a vial of sulfuric acid and explosive powder on their junk is someone willing to go the extra mile and just stuff it under their skin. I guess he's hoping that allah will give him new "tools" to use for his 72 virgins, had he actually succeeded?

I do not believe placing military personnel in airports is policeing the citizans. I say this is protecting the country from all threats foreign and domestic.

An airplane is a weapon of mass destruction. This is not about keeping the honest guy honest. This is about keeping the country safe from those that are citizans and those that are not.

Those who would exchange freedom for security deserve neither.

    -- Benjamin Franklin

How about letting folks carry guns on planes and in airports? How about more freedom instead of less?
