Aloha guys, my friend has a Nissan pickup with a bad water pump. He has removed everything up to the crankcase bolt. When he tries to remove it with an impact wrench, the engine turns over.Any thoughts on how to keep the engine from turning?

Thanks in advance Ed (and Larry also)

If it's a manual transmission, put it in reverse and apply the parking brake.

If it's an automatic, try jamming the flex-plate (remove the starter for access).

I should not tell you this, BUT on most of them you can put the 1/2 inch drive on there place the handle against the ground or frame and hit the Key !!! It pops that sucker loose every time...

BE CAREFUL !!!! and if it works no need for thanks. IF it breaks something, i never said this. It was my evil twin !!!
