Welded stainless steel tab on upper right portion of the cargo cage (indicated by red arrow), shown with the cage extended. Cargo cage can still be removed in this configuration.

View of welded tab in the anti-theft position. Notice that the tab prevents the cage from being pushed down for removal in this position. When you lock the tailgate, you are locking the cargo cage. Clever solution, JJ!
