I think SilverStar bulb life is a factor of keeping them clean when you install them. Oil from your fingers will severely shorten the life of the bulb. I always wipe mine down with an alcohol wipe just incase someone at the factory touched them. The other factor is how much you use your headlights. DRL's and a lot of nighttime driving will shorten the bulb life as well. The final factor is manufacturing defects. I have purchased compact flourescent bulbs for my house that had 5-7 year expected life spans and had them go out in just a few months. I know that several people complained here when the SilverStars first came out and they contacted Sylvania and they were given free replacement bulbs...I don't know what the warranty is on their bulbs but they do stand behind their products to keep their customers happy. As I stated in an earlier post...I have had the same set of SilverStars that I transfered from my 2001 Sport Trac to my 2003 Sport Trac, and they were still working when I traded the truck in 2008, so I know they had at least 6 years on them. ....Rich
