Anyone repplaced factory sub but kept inclosure??

I was just wondering if anyone had tossed the factory sub and replaced it with an aftermarket to see if it made a difference. I like the factory inclosure but wondered if it could handle a rockford or JL audio..

It's been done in the past. The results weren't favorable. I did a search but couldn't find the posts. If you can buy the sub and return it then it won't hurt to try it. But the factory system was designed together and I doubt it will work well with a seperate sub.
