I don't know what category this would fall in, so I chose buying, since I will proably need to buy a new ST.

I was driving home from the parts store, going around a left curve when an oncoming truck pulling a trailer locked up his tires and blasted into my passenger side rear. The force push me off the road and I rolled over into a ditch, stopping upside down.

I couldn't open either front door, so I rolled down the back window (still worked!) and crawled out the back.

The hood was damaged, side door pushed in, front of the roof caved, and bed damage from rolling over a road sign. I took some pics with my cell, but forgot to save them. I will try to get some (good-bye) pictures on Monday. I just paid it off in Feb. :(

The only damage I have is some rug burn on the top of my head, probably from the headliner.

I guess i don't need to worry about the crappy repair on the bumper anymore. Too bad I put $500 worth of tires and $80 worth of gas into it last week.

So, do you think it is totaled? What is the approximate value of a 2002 ST 4WD, pioneer 6-disc changer, moon roof, and power seat?

Usually in the case of a roll-over they total it. If your doors wouldn't open it sounds like things are bent up pretty good and with it being a 2002 I am pretty sure they will total it. If you still have your receipt for the new tires you may be able to get that money back from the insurance company.

edited to add: Glad to hear you made it out safe, that is the most important part.

Sorry about the ST...

I'm looking to sell my ST now, so if your interested shoot me an e-mail..

my ST is basically brand new...check it out in my library

Glad to hear you're alright. You'll probably be sore for a couple of days, but it sounds like everything'll be fine...

On a bad note: It's totalled. Sorry.

Jon, glad you are doing alright,I bet they total it, but not sure of the price. I think we got retail on a ranger that was totaled a few years back._Ron

I checked KBB, and it showed $12,000 or so, NADA said clean was $13,150. Online car sites show in the 13,500 range.

Here are some pics, let's see if this works... the towing place was closed, so I had to shoot through the fence. the grass was where I ended up, upside.

Glad to hear you are OK. That ST looks like it took you on a wild ride!

I hope you have the receipt for the tires and the insurance company will give you full credit for them. We just put a 02 4x4 ST with 78k miles through the dealer auction and it brought 9500 (an 05 4x4 ST with 21k miles brought 16,500).

I bet they will try to give you about 10,000.

Yeah, KBB private party shows $9500. :(

So it looks like I will be out several grand. Not really what I wanted to do.

I do have the receipt for the tires. I wonder if i can siphon the gas.

sorry to hear the bad news , but glad you are ok.

looking at the pics it is a total loss. as larry said give your insurance company the receipts for the tires. if you can pull the mats and if you have a cargo cage before the insurance adjuster looks at it.

It is cleared out pretty much everything that isn't bolted down. I don't know if i can get the spare or the jack. I took out my Sirius radio, but the mounting is still installed and hardwired. There was no cage or tonneau.

This is local, but in my price range:

But i am leaning towards this if I can swing it:

Well, always argue that in order to get one you have to go to a dealer, not private party, and insist on dealer value for your truck. They tried to get my friends to take trade in, which they fell for, since they said that's all they'd be able to do with their car.

Don't forget that insurance companies barter, they will give you a low ball offer then you counter offer with your finding from KBB, NADA and print outs with the prices in your area of similar vehicles.

If you can secure bank or credit union financing, I can probably get you a nice one cheap at the dealer auction... Let me know if you'd like me to see if any are coming through... Southern ones will be in better shape.

My father in law works at a dealership (where the above trucks are) so i can pretty much get auction price of pretty much dealer cost, maybe $100 for paperwork.

Financing is not an issue, other than I would prefer to not have a payment again.

I do appreciate the offer though. I will keep you in mind in case I need to work something out.

The part I am most upset about is going back to the crappy Goodyears. :D I had the Yokohamas only a week, and finally realized how bad the stock skins were.

now having to buy a new vehicle, I won't be able to swing (or justify) buying new tires again.

See you FIL can swap the wheels really fast! All you need are some POS's on each corner that may be able to roll. This way you get to keep your wheels for the new truck.
