I need to vent a little, so bare with me. Found out today that the bone infection I thought was cured, has returned. this will involve another amputation (revision) of part of my left, lower leg. Was having some problems in the past few weeks and sorta figured this would have to happen. Now its official. Will be in hospital in about 3-4 weeks to get it done, I hope permanently this time. I should still have my knee joint, which makes it an easier recovery, but will just have to wait and see. This shoots the whole summer, being on disability and having to watch the boats go by the house and not being out there. No motorcycle trips, thats a real bummer. I will be OK in the end, so if anybody is in the vicinity of the Jersey shore, give me shout. Thanks for the rant, Bob:(

best of luck bob..:(

this cant be an easy time for you. Just be thankful for having friends and family there to support you through this.

Bad things happen to good people.

Good luck Bob. Try not to get depressed. My 93 year old grandfather lived for 70 years without one arm. It will take time, but you will adjust. Count your blessings not your curses.

Bob,

It was great to meet you and I can say while I have No clue what it is like to have that done ( Do have family members but not personally) I know from your great attitude you will recover to 100% again, and keep that great personality !!!!

If we travel that way I will let you know !!!!

Best of luck !!!

I am nowhere near the Jersey Shore, but Washington state is given a shout out! Prayin the doc's find it all, get rid of it, and you still get to keep the joint! Knee joint, wanna be specific!

That sucks. I'll be thinking about you.

Just keep your head up and keep smiling. At least you aren't a woman named "Ilene". You'd never hear the end of it...

Thanks everybody for the kind thoughts. Much appreciated. Given the circumstances, a great team of specialist are on board to fix this.

Gavin, guess what? Yup, thats my nickname. Given to me by one of my "freinds" who's a state trooper here in Jersey, the name stuck. LOL. The guys I ride with(from Philly) figured it was easier to yell that instead of "Bob" in a crowded room of bikers to get my attention. There's always some explaining to do after that, but it always gets a few laughs .:cool:

That really stinks, I'm sorry.... hope all goes well and you recover to the best of your ability. Just remember, there have been many great men with many great achievements who were also amputees, don't let it hold you back from ANYTHING!

On a somewhat strange note.... My wife's biological father had his left (I think) leg amputated right above the knee last week due to a M/C accident he was in. Two days after that, I was at the gas station filling up and a guy on a trike pulled up next to me. He was also missing most of his left leg and had his crutch mounted to the trike right beside him. Another guy getting gas started talking to him about it, and he also lost his in a M/C accident. Just an odd coincidence I thought....

Dan, I'm still on 2 wheels with a left leg amp. H-D Ultra Classic. I'm all over the country during the summer months. Oh yeah, not this year....

Bob, sorry to hear that news. We will be thinking of you in the next coming weeks for a speedy recovery. You have a positive attitude, so I know you'll be fine. Good luck too!

Good luck to you. My father had his left lower leg amputated in 1994 due to diabetes complications but you would never have known it, the man was hell to keep up with.
