Hi, I became a new owner of a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac just a few weeks ago.

I was wondering how much can I lift the front of the truck by adjusting the torsion bar adjusters.

What is the maximum I can lift the front. Now, would this stiff the front suspension?

Thanks

A little stiffer because the suspension is being preloaded.

Doing this will effectively lower the wheels and reduce the available down-travel. You may notice this as a jolt or loss of steering traction when driving across dips and potholes when the wheels can't follow the terrain and are off the ground. With a 2WD, there will be no loss of forward traction.

It will be okay as long as you don't go higher than 1.5", 2.0" at most. You will need to have the front end aligned after. I did it on a Ranger and my first Sport Trac, they were a little stiffer but not objectionable and I liked it better. (Gen 2 Tracs do not have torsion bars.)
