My ST has been in the body shop for two weeks now after it got rear-ended. When they got it in they found that the bed liner had shattered. They ordered a new one from Detroit on 2/12 and have been waiting for it to show up everyday since. Today Ford tells them that there is a national safety recall on that part and they can't ship it out of the factory and have no idea when they will be able to. Has anyone heard of this? I really don't understand how there could be a safety issue on this part. The other thing that I don't get is why they can't put the truck back together without it so I could just come back when the liner comes in. If there is anyone that knows the answer to that I'd love to know. If the shop wasn't owned by a life-long family friend I'd think this was a crock.

You can fix the truck with out the liner, But you have to leave the bed off, and then there would be no tail lights and other stuff....

The insurance company could be jerking them around also....

Do you have a loner car that some one else is paying for ???

The liner may shatter and it is not supposed to in an accident, there may be a new part being manufactured from different plastic...

I have searched several sites about this recall that you mention.

The NHTSA

Ford

Other recall sites

And can find NO recall related to the 2007 (or any other year ST) bedliner.

Who told you that this was a recall......sounds like someone is pulling your leg. Ask for the bulletin number (in writing).

Probably not a recall, but a redesign. Of course, as bad as Ford is doing these days their supplier may not be supplying them for non-payment...or even more likely, the supplier may have gone out of business for lack of sales. :(
