    Off-road bumpers

Yes, my intention is to trim off the bumper cover from the grill and remove the factory bumper and replace with an off-road bumper. There’s a lot of the same thing on the web and I know some modification is a given, but I don’t need a winch so I’m looking for something like this:

    Off-road bumpers

Nice bumper. I want something that fits a little closer to the front end. I’ve been scouring the net for almost a month looking for something I like, most are made for a winch and I don’t need one. I’ve found a few for a Ranger but I’m not too sure they’ll fit.

    Off-road bumpers

I’ve been considering getting new bumpers, off-road type steel bumpers, and I found a rear bumper I like on movebumpers.com but I’m not too crazy about the style of the front bumpers. Will bumpers for a Ranger fit a sport trac? I don’t have a welder so that’s a big hurdle for me and I haven’t...

    Wheel backspace

I do like the wheels and the guy on marketplace doesn’t live far from where I live so I’m thinking about meeting him to see just how it’s setup. As far as ford stuff goes, I know nothing about them, I’ve been a Chevy man my entire life, this is my 3rd ford. Thanks for all the help.

    Wheel backspace

So that’s the answer to one of the questions I asked in my first post, is it possible the same OE wheels can have a different offset depending on the vehicle it’s used on.

    Wheel backspace

Ok, just looking for a logical reason why wheels for an explorer don’t fit a sport trac. I don’t mean to be difficult but I need to understand this.

    Wheel backspace

Oh ok, I didn’t scroll down far enough. So tell me this, if it’s for an explorer why doesn’t it fit without wheel spacers? Forgive the dumb questions, I’m trying to understand

    Wheel backspace

Thanks for the link, I couldn’t find my wheels at all! Craziest darn thing cause I know I seen them on a regular explorer today.

    Wheel backspace

I have tried to identify them and I believed they came from the Ranger but then today I seen them on a 2nd gen explorer. I haven’t had a chance to measure them yet but I will when I get home. I’ve just spent more time researching the wheels I need and what their offset is, which is a -12mm...

    Wheel backspace

I’ve been there done that, that’s not what I’m asking. Thank you for your input though.

    Wheel backspace

Ok, I’m confused a little so I’ll ask for help. I have an 04 ST 4x4 with obviously not the correct wheels on it, they were on it when I bought it. They have way too much positive offset and require wheel spacers to keep them from rubbing. I like the wheels but I don’t like having to use spacers...

    2004 Sport Trac

I’ve talked to a mechanic friend of mine about this swap and he said he could do it, he would need the ECM and a few other things. I was reading peeps putting the coyote engine in the ST, sweet idea! I guess it just boils down to how much money you want to spend on a project.

    2004 Sport Trac

That would’ve been an awesome upgrade! But we must remember, one doesn’t really make money on the car, one makes money on the parts to keep the car going. 😁

    2004 Sport Trac

Thanks for your input. I seen online where a guy swapped in a 302 from a 96 explorer into his 04 sport trac, that’s where I got my idea. I know I’ll need much more research but I hate the 4.0 SOHC engine. I don’t need a road burner, just something I can depend on.

    2004 Sport Trac

I’ve had a 98 explorer and the wife has had two rangers but this is our first sport trac. 04 XLT 4x4, it’s got a list of things to do to get it where it needs to be, but we just got it so it’ll get there. My main want it to swap in a 98 4.0L OHV from a doner vehicle sitting in my yard.
