    Bad engine best option?

Just an FYI, I got my 2002 with about 160k already on it. I’m religious with oil changes, and exercise good preventative care and I’m currently sitting g at 323k miles. Being in NE Ohio, it’s hard to combat the weather so my cab and frame is on their way out due to rust cancer, but I’d drive...

Name that power steering line! Lol

Update….after looking at pictures of the rack and pinion steering on automotive parts websites, looks like that retaining clip holds both lines in place. As such, I should be able to service it without dropping the whole rack assembly!

Name that power steering line! Lol

I figured it was a return line because it’s seeping fluid, not hemorrhaging it like a pressure line would. But it’s bad enough I do need to change it. And yes, that does run from the external oil cooler for the power steering. My concern, though, is servicing this line. It looks like it’s...

Name that power steering line! Lol

Hello all, I have a 2002 sport track. I developed a power steering fluid leak, took a look at it yesterday, and I’m not sure which aspect of the power steering lines this one is. The one that is leaking looks like it press fits into that housing….(it’s the line I marked in red). I can see the...

Center console change, putting 2002 trac console into a 2004 trac

Hey all! Next thing I got cooking here.....I'm on the verge of buying a 2004 Sport Trac with 117K miles to replace my aging 2002 Trac with over 320 miles that just this winter started with the timing chain "death rattle". Its not bad....but I hear it on cold start ups now. The body and frame...

    Ignition tumbler/linkage issue?

So the issue with my ignition was the actuator rod that is buried deep in the steering column. You have to pull the column, disassemble some of it, and then change the actuator rod......lots of work for a small cheap part! lol

    2002 Sport Trac RIP

I’ve got a 2002 also, although right now I’m fighting an ignition tumbler/actuator/switch problem (which I posted a query about on our forum yesterday), once I get that figured out…which I will at some point….Id be interested in that rear brake hardware!

    Ignition tumbler/linkage issue?

Hello all! 2002 ST, 320k miles, 4x4, no codes. The other day I was in a hurry moving the vehicle in the driveway, and I kinda slammed the gear selector into park and quickly shut off the key....but the tumbler would not rotate to the full "off" position allowing me to actually remove the key. I...

    2002 Sport Trac RIP

Collectively we are all glad you’re safe, and will recover with the knee injury. I work in trauma services at UH in Cleveland, Oh., and I know those type of injuries can hurt. Also, know your not alone in mourning of your 2002 Trac (I also have a 2002 with about 318k). But most importantly, glad...

    Hello Trac-ers

Treat it well and it’ll do the same to u. I have a 2002 also, siting just north of 320,000 miles…..lol

    Where is your rust?

Right front fender, just behind the running light is a common first rust spot. Also look for discoloration to the metal rocker panels just above the plastic body cladding that is mounted inferior to the door. And finally, as u mentioned, the inside bottom of the tailgate. That plastic body...

    Hilljack 101

Just a funny lighthearted post. Doing French drain system in back yard. Although it pulled the machinery fine, I’m sure the photo with the drainage pipes got some looks! Lol Enjoy the day all, Randy

    Our 2008 Adrenalin

Very nice! I’m jealous of ur stable of Ford trucks (and of the garage space u have to house them). Lol. Good for you!!

    Fuel sending units

I did the amazon one…..about 55k miles ago.

    2003 Sport Trac Conundrum

Small update. Just realized I had a gap in my knowledge (not uncommon for me by the way lol). I always thought these had some form of throttle body injection….I was wrong. I guess each cylinder does have its own injector. So to revise my previous, if u can isolate the dead cylinder by...

    2003 Sport Trac Conundrum

@gfgjester, sorry to read of the hassles ur ST is dishing out. Although I don’t have much intel as to all the problems it could be, that large metal round weight that ur buddy cut off in order to get to the starter (it bolts to the frame), I believe, is some kind of vibration dampener. Anyway, I...

    Original Owner of 2002 4.0L V6 4x4

I too have a 2002 Trac. While I didn’t buy it new, I have had it for almost 10 years and added almost 150k miles to the odometer. They do have their quirks as any other car does, but it only left me stranded twice (first time fuel pump, second time the water pump bearings beat themselves...

    Grill badge from Ford?

When my ‘02 Trac hit 300,000 miles last year, a buddy of mine said to reach out to Ford because they may have a program to acknowledge mileage achievements (I guess some German auto manufacturers do something similar). Per him, it’s typically a grill badge you would affix to your grill. I was...

New to me 2010 adrenaline owner.

He ain’t being sarcastic…..lol. Frame looks good. Also something I did on my Trac when I got it was to crank down the spare tire all the way and then lather up the cable with some never-seize, and used a can of penetrating oil on the lift mechanism and any other part of the spare tire system...
