Help With Oil Pan Drain Bolt

If a screwdriver isn't thick enough to wedge, wrap some tape around the tip. Enough to create some tension while wedging the screwdriver and.. Best of luck. A stripped bolt, especially an oil pan bolt, is very frustating, often somebody elses mistake and does not make for good weekend...

Help With Oil Pan Drain Bolt

Like Todd suggested, try to apply pressure to the backside of the bolt head by using a screwdriver or curved metal lever against the pan. Then the good bolt threads may begin to engage enough to get started. Take your time, apply a good deal of pressure and give it a shot. Vise Grips may be too...

So I swapped a 16 lb radiator cap for the 20 lb...

The Ebay all aluminum radiators (2 slightly different styles) each have different trans cooler connectors than the CU2952, nor much feedback so I'm not too comfortable purchasing one. Rockauto is the cheapest I've found on a Motorcraft or Spectra Premium CU2952. I chose the Spectra, RA provides...

So I swapped a 16 lb radiator cap for the 20 lb...

Thanks Duncan, I have one of those sourced, ready to order. My 09 Ranger 4.0 rad cap is marked 16psi, fits the ST and is a yellow labeled Motorcraft cap. Interesting thing. When I began the search for another radiator (last week) RockAuto had the Spectra Premium CU2952 marked with the "heart"...

So I swapped a 16 lb radiator cap for the 20 lb...

Thanks Todd. In your post, what "adaptors" are you referring to for the all aluminum radiator? I found two different radiators on Ebay (all aluminum) for the 2008 ST RadiatorMaster & PartsForLess16. I'm contacting them to determine what type trans connectors they are fitted with (M18x1.5 thread...

"I think it’s pretty common".. Roger that. Hopefully ToddZ will chime in at a point, in the mean time I'll start sourcing parts. Looking like Spectra rads and Dorman trans cooler line connectors is the way to go.

Great link Duncan! A million thanks. Brian Makuloco makes great videos, the one you linked is new to me but spot on for my needs. Again, thanks.

So I swapped a 16 lb radiator cap for the 20 lb...

Does the V8 and V6 use the same radiator? Also, does 2006-2010 Explorer rads swap in? I don't fault the parts store, without verification thru accurate testing who can say.. Just not expecting the rad to crap out before I even had a chance to finish detailing the doggone car. For all I know the...

So I swapped a 16 lb radiator cap for the 20 lb...

I purchased my 08' 4.0 Sport Trac last Saturday and drove it home 100 miles with no problems, no nothing. Popped the hood, checked all fluuds, all good, no leaks. Went to Autozone, purchased a 16 lb radiator cap, swapped out the 20 lb cap in a cold engine and started it. At operating...

    4.0 vs 4.6 3V

Thanks Todd. I use the HF hand pump on my Ranger but I think the pump that screws on to a 1 gallon jug would be easier if squatting beside the ST.

    Plastic Black

Time to give a little back to the forum after all the advise I've been seeking on a ST purchase. A fairly inexpensive, easy product that I have tested is something you may want to try on your exterior black plastic trim. It's intended use is not for automotive trim but has proven itself durable...

    4.0 vs 4.6 3V

Todd, is the torx plug 1/4 NPT? I was thinking of using a male threaded/nipple coupler for a hose connector.. Thread it in, connect hose, and pump.. Or does the fill adapter require a loose fit to allow venting while the fluid is pumped in? Also, do you have a recommendation for an economical...

    4.0 vs 4.6 3V

Excellent advise Johhny, thanks. I went to full synthetic in my 4.0 Ranger, plan to do the same with the ST. Reading up on trans drain and refill. I will miss the trans fill tube/dip stick my Ranger had. I could run a small hose down the fill tube and suck the drain pan dry, 3 1/2 qts, once a...

2nd Gen 2wd Wheel bearing Specs?

It is confusing, especially since I am unable to pick up the ST until Saturday so I can get more in depth on inspection. I am considering purchasing a volume 2 service manual for the vehicle.
