    Overheating

It was in fact the head gasket. I have since replaced..... everything. WP, stat, housing, head gaskets, flushed radiator. the gases I was getting was exhaust gases, one cyl was completely washed, evident by the misfire and a like new looking spark plug. When I opened everything up it was even...

    Cooling

Thanks for the response! I recently tore down the engine for head gaskets and did all the timing components as well. I replaced the thermostats housing with aluminum, replaced water pump and PMs have all been completed. It does have a class 3 receiver installed. I believe as part of the “max...

    Cooling

I want to potentially build a list of things that can be done to keep the engine color while towing. To start no I haven’t towed with it and I don’t have a cooling problem as is. I have a new 192* stat, water pump, 16lb rad cap and the radiator has been flushed. My thoughts were to upgrade...

    Body mounts

Finishing up body mounts on my first gen. Found em on Amazon for 100 bucks for just the bushings. Reused 7/8 bolts. Not sure if it’s Becuase it has the appearance pack or what but the rocker panel cover ground effects would touch the pickup bed and keep me from kicking the body up enough. I...

    Still no TC lock up

My cost at ford is 195 for a rebuilt TC. Is it worth a shot? When I dropped the pan and the Valvebody there was clutch material and one very small (1/4 of the sizes of the + top of a AA battery) chunk of brass. No metal slivers in the pan. Trans shifts like butter (when the TC is working...

    Still no TC lock up

It’s a noid in the VB. I drove it today and got over twice as far as usual before it finally kicked out. Maybe it’s full of junk and needs a flush? I don’t know. But 7 fresh qrts of mercon V, bottle of Lucas and a new filter Gutta help!

    Still no TC lock up

That sucks. This has been a major money suck. It’s not getting a trans.

    Still no TC lock up

Never mind. spoke to the ford guy I know. He said at 215k miles it wouldn’t do a thing.

    Still no TC lock up

Recently replaced my valve body and all the solenoids. Still getting OD flash and TC lock up code. I do feel the TQ disengagement at speed and the light blink with it. code was cleared after replacement of VB. guessing it needs a TQ. Any other ideas that are less involved and expensive...

    Temp range 5r55E

I’ve never had it get so high before. I wonder if I have a flow issue. As is my solenoid pack needs to be switch out. I lose my TQ lockup. 214k miles it needs a flush but that’s not in the budget for this beater. It’s gunna get a pan drop/filter/solenoid pack and it’s gunna like it.

    Temp range 5r55E

What is an appropriate temp range and what’s on the high side for these? I had it hit 189 today which is a record for me normal is 170. Second Q. What’s the avg amount of ATF that is lost during a pan drop and filter change?

Engine pull / Head gaskets / timing chains

Just finished my 2004 engine for head gaskets. Also did timing chains, full gaskets and seals, resurfaced heads and lapped the valves, water pump, radiator fan, thermostat housing. I’m sure I’m missing some stuff but if anyone has questions, ask away while I still remember. Head gaskets -...
