    2008 Sport Trac Shifting issues

Reporting back, Don Rich Ford in Villa Rica GA replaced the trans fluid/filter and updated the TCM to the latest transmission shift program. Completely fixed the 1/2 issues and the 6th gear highway slipping. They told me battery disconnect did not in fact erase the TCM program but would erase...

    interior lights come on randomly

Mine's doing the same thing and it's the ignition switch.. Now to read up and find out how to fix it!

I have Discoverer RTXs on mine, different size though at 265/60/18 (same height, wider). They look great and are quiet

    2008 Sport Trac Shifting issues

Mine's doing exactly the same thing (Gen2 v8) and Ford dealership said it was the torque converter.... Hope that's not the case. Will follow this post.

    Gen1 v8 Swapped - White

Hey guys, as you may recall I consulted this forum and the ExplorerForum for info regarding the 302 swap in my 02 Gen1. Well the good news is I have a running v8 Gen1! The bad news being I'm a student in college and didn't realize that this was going to cost nearly as much as it did when it...

    V6 vs. V8 ?

Rick, I just purchased a Gen2 v8 4x4 and I love it. I went all the way to Illinois (being from GA, that was a hell of a drive) to get her, red Limited with 100k miles, owned by an employee's wife at the dealer I bought it at. Here's my first impressions - the trans was obviously not...

    Electrical short

Parts of the GEM circuits and the PCM are also powered all the time, check your instrument cluster to see the blinking theft light and observe the lights on the door lock switches which I believe are also always on. If your battery is dying, best thing to do is parasitic draw test as Yardsale...

    Fuse for Overdrive

There's not a fuse for that specific light if that's the only one that doesn't work. I'd be suspect of the switch first, then the light, then the transmission itself.... The light is controlled by the transmission and connects to the engine harness through the 42 pin connector (pin 2 iirc)

    Code P0430

IIRC there's only 3 02 sensors, 1 upstream of the precats in each bank and then a single downstream below the main 2-in-1 out cat.

    Silverstar Ultra 9005s too bright?

I just bought some Cree LED's for my main 9007 sized headlights and the H10 fogs. Since my truck currently has no motor I can't tell how much brighter they are. I'll report back my findings once I get this thing back on the road with the 5.0 in it!

    What could this be?

Check your body mount bushings, mine was doing the same thing, very prominent clunk right under the floorboard on the driver side, very obvious when turning right. Right turn puts stress on right sway bar end link so I wouldn't think that would be the case but could be wrong...

4.0 Engine and 5R55E Trans or Parts from v8 swap

Mark, the AC compressor itself was working fine. clutch engaged and disengaged audibly, no play in the pulleys... However, the system would not hold a charge. I'm thinking it was because I bent the AC hardline to the blower box when I did my body lift, but I couldn't rule out the compressor. I...

    Another 5.0 v8 swap underway

Here in Carroll county GA, we don't have to pass emissions, don't have to have cats on it if you don't want them, swap any year you like.... Bunch of rednecks down here would pitch a fit if they changed that.

    Decisions

I like my RS5000's, have them front and rear. With stock shocks @191k miles, the Warriors made the rear end bouncy because the shocks were bottoming out and the springs were tighter, but the RS5000's helped that A LOT. Good investment. Add-a-leaf may be a better option for the back anyway...

    Another 5.0 v8 swap underway

I have been too excited to take pictures of most of the disassembly.... Oops. It's a 2WD to 2WD swap, maybe I'll add 4wheel later but right now being in the South where it never snows I don't really need it. So far, the major issues I've encountered include the power steering rack needing to...

4.0 Engine and 5R55E Trans or Parts from v8 swap

Hey guys, doing a v8 swap and got my 4.0 out. I don't think I'll need it anymore... :bwahaha: Anyways, it has an issue with the head gaskets but I didn't drive it more than 10 miles after I noticed coolant leaking everywhere from the back of the block. The body of my truck has 191k on it, so...

    Another 5.0 v8 swap underway

Hello everyone! I'm posting this to let everyone know that I am undertaking the glorious trial of swapping a 302 from a 99 explorer into my beloved 02 Trac. I have read countless threads (here and ExForums) written by members at both places, hopefully the "book smarts" I've acquired help me...
