What did you do to your Sport Trac today?

I finished replacing my body mount bushings today with the red prothane bushings. Had that set for almost 5 years, so clearly procrastination is not a problem for me. The rust on those bolts were insane, but I have to remember that the truck spent its first 3 years of life up in the Chicago...

    Replaced Control Arms, now this..

Just got back from an x-mas break: @Blown09 - Yes, much of the parts this time are mevotech (upper & lower control arms and sway bar links, all from rock auto) The previous ones were Moog but they went to crap in just a few years. For the sway bar bushings, I do not know as those were done by...

    Replaced Control Arms, now this..

I took the trac out for a drive the other day, and the grumble is now constant from the front passenger. I also now have a light vibration felt in the gas pedal. When trying to park it, there was a shudder now in observed when turning the wheel left or right. This occurred moving slowly, and...

What did you do to your Sport Trac today?

i didn't notice anything about the odometer; i really wasn't driving it much. For me, it was just a bunch of random power things that led me to replace what i did. The speedometer was bouncing only at idle, but was fine under load/power. Windows were slow to move and the dash board lights...

What did you do to your Sport Trac today?

Finally re-covered my arm rest finally. Took way too long to get the new vinyl stretched and folded "good enough" onto the plastic parts. You can see a few areas on the edges where I said to heck with it; at least the top is smooth. Much better than what it was the last few years.

    Replaced Control Arms, now this..

So with the help of a retired navy mechanic, I have been working on getting my somewhat neglected sport trac back to daily driver safe status. over the last 4 months we have replaced on the front end: Upper & lower control arms Outer Tie Rods Front sway bar bushings & links Wheel hub...

What did you do to your Sport Trac today?

Took it easy today. Replaced the alternator and the battery cable post connector (neg side) which seems to have resolved my speedo bouncing around at idle, and my overhead (temp, compass) resetting when rolling any windows down. Tommorow should be another easy day, replacing the center console...

What did you do to your Sport Trac today?

Oh man, what didn't I do is more like it. Today I tackled the body mount bushings. Had the red prothane ones in the box for years, finally put them on today! Long story short, a divorce has made me take the truck from a "ranch vehicle" that it has been the last 5 years; back into a daily...

    Long Distance Tow

thanks so far everyone. BigT1989, all new transmission fluid was put in last Oct, only got 14k miles put on since then. I just drove around today with O/D off, one thing I am curious about is the "high" RPM's. Just doing 55mph i was running about 3k rpm, getting up to 65mph was putting...

    Long Distance Tow

So my stint in California is over. Its beautiful out here in the foothills/sierra area, but most everything else sucks... plus I miss my daughter; so its back to Texas for me. I've towed 3k-4k pounds before, but those were short trips (less than 60 miles), dual axle trailers, and it they...

    Ride Hight

I went and measured. I got 34" front and 35" rear. I was looking at some other members pics, it looks like its back to stock height. I wished i measured it before, as it is easily 3" higher than it used to be; at least in the front. Thanks. This board has been very helpful over the last...

    Ride Hight

After three weeks, finally got all my front end work done! Now the truck sits higher. My question is did i restore the original ride height, or did i end up getting a lift? The shocks were stock, so I know they were tired. I put in Rancho 5000's as well as new control arms for the front...

    Differential Oil

Much confusion I have over this. I am getting my rear diff (4.10 LS) oil replaced this coming week when my truck goes in for its other scheduled repairs. I will be replacing the oil with Valvoline 75w-140 Synthetic. It claims it already has the additive for the LS. Some people say its fine...
