    Cam phaser

Pulled my valve cover, looked at my cam phaser on the drivers side. Anyone know how to tell if its bad? Also, looks like a tough job to get the chain off... Any pointers?

Random grinding noise coming from drivers side valve cover

Hey all, I noticed an intermitant grinding noise that comes from my drivers side valve cover only when in gear, drive or reverse. It stops when I put it in park or neutral. It's not very loud, I can hear it sitting still with the hood open, but not when I'm driving. Could this be a timing...

    LS1Tech... Another question for you

Well, I replaced the throttle body and injectors and re learned idle... No difference. I did notice something that sucks though, my coolant overflow tank is very low. I just checked the coolant level in the radiator a couple weeks ago, but I guess I didn't notice the overflow tank level...

    LS1Tech... Another question for you

I think you guys have hit the nail on the head. I'll switch out the Tstat this weekend. LS1Tech, I think youre probably right about the fan clutch not doing its job entirely, and that would make sense along with what I've datalogged so far. I'll see if I can check commanded fan speed, I...

    LS1Tech... Another question for you

I was thinking that if I went with a cooler thermostat it would open up sooner, allowing the coolant to keep the engine cooler... Do I have that theory wrong? If so I will change the thermostat tomorrow, lol.

    LS1Tech... Another question for you

Just did another data log to verify the idle creep is temp dependent. The outside temp right now is 75 degrees. It took 25 minutes of idling for the RPMs to creep up to 980 RPMs, at that point the ECT was reading 206 degrees, the IAT was 180 degrees, cylinder head temp was 216 degrees, trans...

    LS1Tech... Another question for you

Im still waiting on my new throttle body to arrive, however I noticed something today in regards to my high creeping idle while parked. It seems to be related to temperature. I noticed that when I'm parked and idling, the idle rpms slowly climb from around 750 up to around 1000 rpm...

Man that thing is awesome! I hope somebody buys it before I decide to get back into debt with a car loan!

    L1tech, what do you think?

when I'm watching it it's live, constant monitoring. In an excel spreadsheet I think you are right, it would chop it up in time stamps. I went ahead and ordered a throttle body from Torrie at Fast Parts Network just to rule it out, im pretty sure the one on my truck isn't OEM anyway, not...

    L1tech, what do you think?

I can email you an excell spreadsheet of my data log... Some of the data will be in a different format than you're used to since its an SCT program, but if you tell me what sensors to monitor I'll log it, extract it, and email it ya!

    L1tech, what do you think?

I removed the throttle body, cleaned it. Removed the motor cover and made sure the gears were clean. I applied a light coat of lithium grease to the motor spline and gears. I checked the throttle plate in both directions to see if it was sticking, feels smooth. I cleaned the MAF...

    L1tech, what do you think?

I went to ford, they said without a DTC they wouldn't be able to find the problem without throwing parts at it... I didn't like that so I left. Here's the main issue: When I start the truck my RPMs drop down to around 400 just after cranking/ignition, truck doesn't die, but its close. It...

Startup idle acting up after new Fuel Pump Drive Module install

Maybe I can change the reading format. I'm using my SCT x3 with data logging software. Don't know my h about it. I'll do another data log cruising tonight. I'm going to take it to ford this Friday to see if they can figure it out. I think I have a couple different problems making it...

Startup idle acting up after new Fuel Pump Drive Module install

ran the data log, long fuel trims 1 and 2 started at 1.07 each and stayed pretty much the same, rising slightly at 6 mins of running with a peak of 1.12 The short term fuel trims started at .97 and kinda bounced between there and 1.03 for 2 minutes, then they dipped slightly ranging from...

Startup idle acting up after new Fuel Pump Drive Module install

I'll data log those things Tuesday and post the results. The wideband is wired independently to the battery and body ground. It's located a few inches away from the factory narrowband. I replaced the cats with high flows simply for more flow, figuring 130k on the oem ones might be part of the...

Startup idle acting up after new Fuel Pump Drive Module install

I've been having some idling issues but no DTC's. idle creep, intermittent engine shaking, wideband readings bounce back and forth between 13 and 16 instead of hovering around 14.7 when the Shakes happen. Noticed that engine power doesn't always seem consistent, and that on cold starts the...

    Vapor Canister Purge Valve/Solenoid

So I was trouble shooting my Fuel Pressure Drive Module (FPDM) issues (still not solved) and I found another problem! The hits keep coming! Anyway, the VCPV (valve with two lines and a green screw on cap next to the battery) is leaking. I noticed that my idle slowly creeps up from around 750...

Startup idle acting up after new Fuel Pump Drive Module install

I changed my Fuel Pump Drive Module this weekend because Ive been trying to narrow down a shudder my engine exhibits from time to time. The FPDM was completely corroded from salt and almost crumbled when I took it out. After the new FPDM install I reset KAM and performed the Idle learn...

    White Noise from Speakers

If its not a ground issue, I'd tap my fingers around the amps connections and settings switches... Could be a dirty rheostat (sp?) or bad connections (solder) causing the noise. tapping them should cause the noise to get louder or go away if theres a weak connection inside the amp.
