    Max weight on the tailgate

OK so I loaded my safe onto the ST this morning using a strap, a floor jack & my Motorcycle jack. I tipped the safe against the tailgate, put a strap (for safety) around the door opening wheel. Hooked it to the bed eyes, put the Motorcycle jack under it & raised the safe off the floor. Once it...

    Max weight on the tailgate

Actually...No. The last time I hauled this I loaded it solo using a floor jack to tip it into my 1993 Dakota. Didn't even think twice about "would it hold"

    Roof rack Cargo Carrier

Everywhere I read I see 100Lbs max load for the cargo carriers. I bought a used Sears XCargo rooftop cargo carrier which I intend to carry clothing in for my move. I have aluminum square after market cross bars on the truck as well, After loading the box i weighed it at 175 Lbs. Since I have...

    Max weight on the tailgate

Hmm maybe taking the tailgate off my be prudent since I will also be towing my trailer with my 2 motorcycles on board and the open tailgate does come close to the trailer spare tire. I can also put the tailgate in the trailer with the bed cover. Is there a write up on removing the...

    Max weight on the tailgate

Steve, have you considered using a plastic welder? I picked one up from harbor freight to repair the plastic faring on my Yamaha Venture which was all busted up by the previous owner. There are a lot of you tube how to videos. The repair is rock solid. They also carry the welding rods.

    Max weight on the tailgate

James, between Winchester confirming the Safe is only 500 Lbs & your comment I feel a lot better. The only reason I questioned it is because the Tailgate isn't all steel like my Dakota was. All in all it should be a fun trip. I'm hauling the safe in the bed while pulling a 15' trailer with my 2...

    Max weight on the tailgate

Well I just called Winchester and although they did not have the Specs on my specific safe, based on the Serial Number the said that this 24 gun safe weighs no more than 500 Lbs. This gives me a more warm & fuzzy to fulcrum this in since I know I handled my CB750 on the tailgate

    Max weight on the tailgate

Rich, the bed is 50" and the safe is 60" so 10" of the safe will rest on the tailgate once it is loaded. Wouldn't this make re-installation of the gate impossible?

    Max weight on the tailgate

The Bed & tailgate of the dakota was metal. I know the ST is reinforced fiberglass & that's my concern. I know the bed is rated at a 1500 lbs payload and the safe's weight on it's back would be equally distributed. My concern is the tailgate. would it hold the tipping process. I did load my 800...

Relay Clicking Sound - Headlights Stay On

It's the switch on the mirror. If I tug it towards off after I shut the truck off the lights go out. Eventually I'm sure it will fail Time to hunt for a new one

    Max weight on the tailgate

How much weight can my 2002 tailgate hold? Here is my scenario. I need to transport an 850 lbs Winchester gun safe in the bed. I know the bed can handle it. My question is because to load the safe, I have to tip it towards the tailgate then lift the bottom with a jack (pivoting on the...

    Not Charging/battery light on

Sorry I didn't respond sooner. I was expecting to see some notifications to my email that replies were made. In any case The battery was less that a year old & was fully charged. The problem was the replaced alternator failed. The good news is Advanced did honor the warranty (3 days before the...

    Not Charging/battery light on

I wanted to drop this question here even though I think I know the answer. I was driving home today and as I made a turn my lights dimmed the battery indicator came on & my scan gauge showed 11 volts from 13.9. My knee jerk reaction is Alternator died. The only reason I am bringing it up...

Do ST front rotors have the "SEIZE" problem

Well the 2002 ST's rotors just dropped out. No issues, no problems. The replacement of pads & rotors took me 15 minutes. I was concerned they would have the dreaded F150 rotor seize issue I was so happy that I didn't have to deal with the Hyundai fight. Even after I drilled out the set...

Do ST front rotors have the "SEIZE" problem

THANK GOD! The Elantra went to the garage to have them taken off...I GAVE UP. Penetrating oil, propane torch, hammer, puller, would not budge. When I saw the videos about the Expeditions I was DREADING! Thanx for giving me calm Todd.

Do ST front rotors have the "SEIZE" problem

My 2002 4wd Trac needs new front brakes & rotors. (I am currently replacing the same stuff on my Hyundai & the rotors are seized to the hub) While looking online I keep reading that this is a common problem with the Expeditions & F150 trucks, so before I tear into my Trac I need to ask.... Are...
